According to Henry Kissinger, 'Every success is usually an admission ticket to a new set of decisions. Many of us are somehow confused on how to be successful; we have been reading books, attending seminars and forums to adapt ways on how to be successful in every endeavor we take'.
We measure personal success by how well we have achieved the positive life goals we set ourselves. One of the key to being successful is to set challenging yet attainable goals while always keeping focused on what we hope to achieve.
Goal is like hitting a very hard target, the more positive and easy goals you set yourself and that are completed, the more likely you will be encouraged to seek loftier goals.
The following are the ten tips that can help you set positive life goals.
1. To begin with, think of what is really important to you in life? Put into writing the things that you want to accomplish before your time on the planet ends. Make yourself two lists- The positive goals you would like to achieve within the short term or what we call the short term goals and on the other hand, something that you would usually take two years or longer, these long term goals will definitely set the stage for your plan of success.
2. Next, take a closer look at your lists and review the goals you are not willing to work at, because sometimes the mid tends to think of irrelevant ideas which are not very important, it should always be like something you have a burning desire to achieve.
3. Choose the goals from your two lists- the short term goal and the long term goal. Short term goals are very important since it is easier to achieve and will help you keep focuses and motivated. Actually one of your short term goals will definitely lead to the achievement of the long term plans and goals.
4. Next, write down the steps you must take to achieve the most important goals. This will serve as your 'to do' list- the things you need to do first to start off towards reaching of your goals. For example you want to be a famous newscaster. First you need to have the proper knowledge about it, then other things follow.
5. The only constant thing in the world is change, so be open and flexible to the changes around you. Always think of your goals and to do list because things change, as the lives of the people change and evolve and so will our goals.
6. Now understand why you want to achieve your goals, think why do you really want to reach your long term goals, think of what will id to or how can it change your life. It is like anticipating the good outcomes. Always think positive, you can also allow other people to support your efforts. You are more likely to achieve your goals if your family and friends know about them because they might as well share ideas for your growth and success.
7. Always choose a timeframe in which each step of your list will be achieved and that will help you keep track on what you’re doing. It is always important to have something to work towards. By then you will not miss out on every important details and ideas you will encounter that can definitely help you attain your goals.
8. Never let our pride get into the way of setting big goals. Honestly evaluate why you want to achieve your goals, the more you are aware why you want something, the more eager and motivated you will be to working at accomplishing your goals. This will bring a new you, a personal development.
9. Always be motivated. Try to always remain focused on what you hope to achieve. Doing small things like sticking pictures up around you, like a big house or actually the things you really want. This can help speed up your motivation towards achieving your goal.
10. Lastly, never loose patience and hope, don’t give up. Oftentimes you will get discouraged, and start doubting yourself, but it is just human nature. Never fear failure, because it will help you try to succeed. If you don’t try and just give up, definitely you will not reap the rewards.
Get to work on setting positive goals, remember, successful people got where they are right now because they had a big dream, and it all started with a goal.
