you may have be it nicotine, drugs or any other types of addiction.

Leave, leave, leave

Change your pattern

This is an effective method to be able to help you change or remove your craving addiction. If you have a particular routine that was familiar during your addiction, try to change the routine now that you are trying to overcome your addiction.

If you are used to smoking five cigarettes in the morning, or if you are used to drinking alcohol at a certain time of day, try engaging in something active at the time you usually smoke or drink. Do this everyday and you may notice that you really do not miss alcohol or nicotine at all.

Wait it out

Believe it or not, many cravings have a fifteen to twenty minute life span from the time you start to experience it and from the time it begins to subside. During this tension-filled time, you may try to keep yourself distracted until the craving does pass.

When the craving hits, clean the cupboards, play with the dog, arrange your book case or dvd cabinet. Anything that you know would get your mind off the craving. Doing a particular job or activity you may have been avoiding too long may be the best answer to deal with addiction cravings.

Be busy, keep busy

Be as busy as a bee. An idle mind and idle hands are easy temptation to the craving devil. When you fixate on your cravings they can become stronger and overcome you instead of the other way around.

Do not forget

As much as possible, try not to forget the particular reasons on why you want to overcome your addiction. Remind yourself of the ugly things cravings bring such as unhealthiness, unattractiveness, being smelly, and most of all it is counter-productive and harmful to your family and friends.

Be very patient

The fact of the matter is that it is not that easy to quit. This is a fact that you need to acknowledge especially during those times when you feel weak and vulnerable. However, take each day as they come. You will then eventually to realize that your cravings become weak and weaker as the day pass. Just make sure you do not further feed it.

Have a substitute

We are living in the real world, therefore cravings are usually helped overcome by some substitutes. Believe it or not, there are many possibilities. Cravings for nicotine may be overcome by chewing sugarless gum. You could also try out other activities and alternatives such as sunflower seeds, crocheting or licorice.

Take up a hobby

The purpose of hobbies is to de-stress you. The reason for cravings is to alleviate a perceived stress. Doing some sports or going to the gym or any other activity that does not make you feel tense or tired is a good alternative to overcoming cravings.

Look at the long-term results

It is easy to feel tired when you only look at the short term benefits and not the big picture. In the long run, cravings could be overcome and you eventually will have the freedom to not be controlled by it.

All in all,l it takes is a little energy, effort and desire to make your life in addiction recovery better. can be dealt with.
