The “addiction recovery tools” that are listed in this article as ways to stay sober are definitely a necessity. I really think “Tool” number 4 is very important. Too many addict’s blame their problems on others or on situations that are happening in their lives. When people own up to their own adiction problems and mistakes and work on finding solutions and correcting them are they truly paving their way to recovery.

These are all very valuable tools. For me, two of the most important are to have friends and family being totally supportive while one is going through the recovery process. But just as importantly, take ownership of the problem, determine what the triggers are for the behavior and learn different ways of dealing with the triggers. Oh, and one more favorite…it’s always one day at a time.
