It is estimated that over 50% of people with substance use problems have another co-occurring Mental Health problem; PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a common result of trauma.

1. Re-experiencing the Trauma.
This includes nightmares, having flashbacks an memories intruding into your consciousness. You may have exaggerated emotional and physical reactions to triggers and events that remind the person of the trauma.
2. Hyper Arousal.
This may include hyper-vigilance - always being on guard, sleep and concentration difficulties and an exaggerated startle reflex.
3. Emotional Numbness
A person feels detached having a lack of emotions, especially positive ones and a loss of interest in activities.
4. Detachment
This is the avoidance of people, places or activities that remind the person of the trauma.

Well all the reasons stated here are very true. One will face all the difficulties. Hyper arousal is a major factor which will lead to many problems. One must not feel guilt or bad to recover from any addiction. One should have the mental peace to sustain all these striving conditions. Mental stability and health is the key to win all these situations.
