i’m not at all an alcoholic however i recently experience a black out, my first one, and it has scared the shit out of me!
I remember every detail of the night, where we went, who i was with, until about 3am, i was still at the bar with my friends and the next thing i remember i woke up in hospital with a IV in my arm and im covered in bruises.
I asked my friends how i ended up in hospital but they don’t know. Apparently they told me they were leaving the bar and i said that i was going to stay so they left me there alone. i am in a foreign country and the nurse didn’t speak English, all she could tell me was that i was drunk.
I really want to know what happened to me, i think i was in a fight due to the bruises on me, did i hurt someone? is there anyway to recover these memories?

hi, alls i had a black out here last saturday, just to mention i do live with my boss and drinking buddy. we r both in the hotel industry as cooks, me cook, him my asstincence manager.. I never ate on saturday, i work in two resturants working 90 hrs a week. i was drinking out of bottles, had maybe 7, drinking buddie left, i continued on to another pub in my small town, iwas fine at the pub until i left i can rember leaving the place, falling a few times but not too intierlly sure. i got home safe and sound but walking to a convience store and what i did when i got home safe, i cant rember a damn thing, untill my roomate told me as he was still awake. its time to fast again with drinking…..:) after reading on black outs

I have blackouts all the time, I dont drink often anymore.

When I did I would black out 8 times out of ten. Now I drink 3/4 times a year it always results in blackouts. Last night was most recent. at 12.30am I was fine, fully consious in control, half an hour later i was a total ape but i dont remember a bit of it.

Next time I will do the exact same thing. convince myself in advance that it wont be same as last time, start drinking ale, bang in a few shorts.. feel grand during the night and then turn into an ape. Anyone care to let me know why?

Glad that I’m not experiencing alcoholic blackouts. It seems like I’m not even drunk cause I still manage to be awake and talk normal, not just like my friends. Maybe, its all in the mind. I have the ability to control myself if needed.

I am an alcoholic, I have been drink heavily for the last 9 years. I am 25………..I just recently have started blacking out every night and do not know why. This has not happened to me since i was a teenager, and it scares me. Last 2 nights last thing I remember was watching a movie and then I was waking up in my bed, alarm clock set and all. 2 days ago, my front door was standing wide open when I woke up….. Does anyone know what could be causing these sudden blackouts?

Among many problems which are actual today for our society, the problem of alcoholism is on one of the first places. The damage which this trouble makes to separate people, to families as a whole is too great. Alcohol consumption in Kazakhstan.

Blackouts are truly dangerous. I am lucky that I stopped drinking. I nearly experienced an accident because of my alcoholic blackout. I mean it was just so sudden.

IF YOU BLACKOUT YOU NEED TO STOP DRINKIN I’M NOT ANYWHERE NEAR SUICIDAL AND THE FIRST FEW TIMES I BLACKED OUT I KEPT SAYN I WANTED TO DIE WHICH IVE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT AND THE LAST TIME I BLACKED OUT THIS GUY I KNOW SAID I WAS SAYN I WANTED TO KILL MYSELF AND HE WALKED IN ON ME IN HIS ROOM FROM TRYN TO COOK ME SOME EGGS TO SEEING ME WITH A WHOLE BOTTLE OF HIS PRESCRIPTED OXYCODONE PILLS UP UP TO MY MOUTH…GOOD THING HE KNEW HOW TO GET SOME OF THEM OUT ME BY HEIMLICH AND FINGERS DOWN MY THROAT AND MADE ME THROW UP….GETTING DRUNK IS THE MOST DANGEROUS THING YOU COULD DO FROM THINKING NOTHING OF IT..IF U NEED HELP GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not uncommon to get injured when in a blackout. I used to think I had a deadly disease because I would wake up with bruises on my body and not remember getting them. Case solved when I woke up at the bottom of some stairs.

I know of three blacks outs I had.

The first time I got drunk and it was a binge drunk.

Second time I was with some friends at a bar. Someone bought me a round. I took one sip and the next thing I remember it was morning. When I asked the people I was with, they said I was ok was talking with them.

Last one was the scariest. I was at home and having rum and cokes and didnt think much happened. The next morning I could see blood in my iris but no black eye. A eye doctor looked at my eye and said I suffered severe trauma to my eye. Much like when a baseball play gets hit in the eye. My vision is ok but wow it made me think.

I dont know if I have had any others.

I am not a alkie. I have been to AA and after hearing their stories I am not even close to them. I can go weeks without a drink and don’t get the shakes or intense craving for a drink.

A friend of mine told me her sister has no memory of this but she was drinking at home and thought nothing had happened. When she walked out the front door, her car was on the front lawn, 4 flat tires, both sides of the car were bashed in and it appears she hit something in the front.

Still trying to figure out my blackouts, I was a heavy drinker for 30 years, now have 10 years sober. but I used to blackout on purpose and did so many, many times. It never scared me, until things got too far out of hand. I think lots of alcoholics similar to those on the streets black out just to escape the world. I don,t recall hangovers after a blackout.

I am experiencing blackouts every day it seems if I don’t just lay down and go to sleep. If I am doing the laundry half way through it I apparently am drinking and then when I wake up in the middle of the night I go to the laundry room to finish and my husband said I did it all, folded it and even fixed dinner for him and my grandson and I don’t remember even doing it.
