I discovered a new social networking site for people concerned with addiction.
My friend, Bill Wardell at over at Online Security Authority found Beating Addiction and let me know about it.
It is a relatively new site but is growing steadily. You have the ability to network and set up groups. Alex, the owner is laying the foundation for a very interactive community. He has already loaded some really useful info already.
Check it out. I created a profile and will keep an eye on the growth of the site.

Seems like this can become a very valuable support group for the recovering addict. It gives you support but also allows you the opportunity to remain anonymous. I’d imagine the best way to use the site might be to use it as a supplement to any support groups you might be attending.
I don’t trust social networks, really. I mean, everyone there can lie, and when you find out that you’ve been lied to it just adds trauma to an already fragile state of mind. I would stay away from any type of support group that’s online.
I’m a little bit shy on the Internet. Something about sharing personal details with complete strangers makes me walk away from social networks and my spaces and other things like that. I don’t think I’d use such a tool for support.
Looks interesting – thanks for the link. I always feel that being part of a healthy community to help each other can only have positive benefits.. the internet really does lend itself to these kinds of communities.
