Fortunately, many drug rehab centers have their own drug rehab detox facilities on the premises. A drug addict can go through the detox process privately. Medical staff can prescribe medications to ease the addict’s symptoms, monitor how they are feeling, and provide emotional support during a difficult time. When the addict is ready to start treatment, they may only need to take a few steps from the detox area to the prescription drug rehab clinics main facility.

I was a smoker for 5 years and I've now quit for 14 months all because of point 4 and mainly 5. Finding a new behavior is essential so long as it is not taxing on your health again. We took up sports and lots of them and found it worked wonders! Thanks for the great read!

I don't agree with the comment above me, as i saw on the news the other night that scientists are unsure if it is good or bad to have a couple of drinks per week. So the question still remains, ' to drink or not to drink'??

Drinking alcohol is definitely a big NO when a woman is pregnant. This is surely detrimental both to the mother and baby’s health.

A strong reason for sticking to your goals is important to achieve anything in life and I'd image the same can be said for recovering from an addiction such as alcoholism or drug addiction...maybe that reason would be the birth of a child, a near death scare or something powerful like that...

I think the tip "continue counseling" is probably the most important in my opinion. A close fried of mine went through drug rehab and the counseling was so important for him...it helped him get through the weak times...

I think staying occupied would be best to help with addiction recovery. I think it is difficult to return to a regular lifestyle where you and your friends used to drink or do drugs together. Someone in this situation would need to create new habits and activities so that they can enjoy life in a different way.
