In retrospect, my journeys in addiction and my journeys in recovery have always been symbolized by forks in the road. At key times in my life I’ve taken the wrong for and at other times the right for.
This Thanksgiving I will do what I’ve done for the last several years, grab a good book bury my feet in the sand at the beach and enjoy the sunshine. I revel in the fact that I have my mind and my health.
I have purpose in my life by bringing the word of addiction recovery to as many people as I can, not only in my daily work as an addictions therapist, but as a write. You hear people say that they have viewed their recovery is being beyond their wildest dreams and so mine is. I sit here in the corner of my bedroom and know my words 350,000 people seeking information on addiction recovery. That is just crazy.
My passionate hope for you is that you take the right fork in the road and move forward with your life and recovery and never regret the choices of the past nor fear the choices of the future.
I wish you the best for a safe and sane holiday and life.

The Road Not Taken
By Robert Frost
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Nice poem Bill, seems to be very much inpirational. I would like to thank my parents for being very much lovable to me and teaching me the good lessons of life.
Thanks, I really like that one. In my darker days Edgar Allen Poe was a favorite poet.
This is one good poem! We may have taken the wrong road, what is important is that we knew the way back.Thanks for sharing this poem!
