Hormones throughout a woman's life cycle really can have quite an impact on a woman's well being, both physically and mentally. Unfortunately, it seems that it also one of the most difficult issues to get both diagnosed and regulated.

As a teenager I could feel my stress and outraging behavior during my menstrual cycle. I could feel the anxiety, increased appetite, unwanted annoyance, cravings and sudden mood change during my menstrual cycle. I wonder how this estrogen hormone affects my personal life. But thanks for suggesting the natural remedies and the holistic therapies. I wish HRT, ERT, yoga and natural food habits will keep me calm and poised during those 3-5 days. Useful post that I had ever read in my life!

Progesterone is associated with memory, hunger, sex drive and anger. Surges of progesterone during a woman’s mid-cycle have been thought to be the culprit in creating PMS symptomology, such as irritability, mood swings, and crying jags. An increase of estrogen, either through hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) seems to help counteract these symptoms.

Women are more susceptible to mood disorders and depression during hormonal transitions, such as pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause, so better we guys take care of them rather than blaming them for their mood swings.

Women are more susceptible to mood disorders and depression during hormonal transitions, such as pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause. Women need to be critically aware of changes in their moods during key life cycle events. Science has revealed clues as to why these changes may occur in some women but further research is needed to definitively show what causes depression and mood disorders in women during hormonal transitions.

Hey we men always complaint to our wife or girl friend about their mood swings. But now I found the scientific reason behind it. We men should rather accept these changes rather than complaining about it.

Quite informative article. As far as I know, some women are more sensitive to hormonal fluctuations than others. For many women, anxiety issues appear for the first time during periods of hormonal change. For other women, hormonal changes intensify previously existing anxiety symptoms, like for example often girls and women who get anxious, experience PMS the week before their period. We need to control our mind and body with proper diet and healthy exercise like yoga or meditation.

There are a lot of health drinks and supplements and juices out there that it is kind of hard to choose which one is best for you. What do you think should I look for in a woman's supplement, health juice or drink?

Nice to see holistic principles as an outline for the solution in this stuff....for once someone is not just pushing more meds and pills as the solution.

My personal belief is that the importance of a holistic approach increases the longer we stay in recovery. Caring for our whole self in recovery becomes more and more important as we progress. What got us sober won't keep us sober. We have to keep growing and that means utilizing a holistic approach.
