My husband recently had an affair with an unatractive, old , thick , married barmaid and could not give any reason but said had no interest in her at all . He had become himself fat , bloated and red faced and towards the end went out every night playing sport as he claimed he wanted to get fitter . He has always liked a good drink but it never crossed my mind he had a problem with it . He stopped going to sport club where barmaid worked so no longer drank in week and after a few weeks said it felt like a fog lifted and was devostated in how he had treated his family. It transpired he had been drinking at least 7 pints a night and regularly sat in the pub over the road from my house on his own . He now drinks a couple of pints on a saturday night only and appears to be the person he was years ago not the unpleasant man he had become . He says he admits he is an alcoholic but will never go back to how he was and will always restrict his drinking to a couple on a saturday night -what would your thoughts be on this please . He has been doing this for 8 months now and says he is sure he can cope and is 100% sure he would not have touched tart(who was purely a gold digger as he has been successfull and is intelligent when sober ) without alcohol problem.

Thank you for addressing this issue, I come under abstinence. I do vote for social drinking though. Well I am surrounded by people who just drink because they are all in it for peer pressure. Well, in a contextual meaning it is brilliant. I don’t get the idea of getting drunk till you puke.

Its so easy to go from social drinker into the other two categories. That is why its best to just stay away from any alcohol at all.

This is very informative post as it stated the important information about drinking. Yes its true that drinking is one of the most fatal habit and can damage your internal organ.

We should be responsible while we're driving because a lot of things might happen while in the road. There should be laws that will be given if someone will caught drunk while driving to avoid accidents.

I am a Social Drinker. But sometimes I tend to drink alone, not that I am an alcoholic. A bottle of beer or 2 just to pass my time and relieve stress.

Interesting points. I have always wondered what the true definition of each stage of drinking is. And wondered where I fit into it as well. I don't drink very often, but when I do drink, I do have the tendency to take it a bit far. Thankfully, nothing much beyond general silliness has resulted from it. But it's definitely something that I will have to watch.

This is a wonderful site. It's so nice to see a place doing some good amongst all the online garbage. I just wanted to thank everyone here for sharing their stories and wish you all good luck on your journeys.

I think im addicted a little bit with alcohol, It seems that when everytime there is an alcohol in front of me, I can't fight the urge on drinking. I do hope I could fight it but its a bit hard, but I'm still trying with all the help this site offers. I tried quitting for months now and its not that easy.

hi, this is a good site for addicted but the addicted must know the difference between addiction and sober living and they should accept that they are addicted and they want to be sober.
