Are you looking for tips on stopping smoking?

And would you like to know what are some ways to help quit? Is there a best way to quit smoking? Now let me remind you that when we come to the actual quitting process, that it is not going to be easy. Please do not consider yourself to be superhuman so be ready to get external help if you need it. As I told you earlier, there might be physical, mental and emotional changes when you stop smoking. But you do not have to worry. There is plenty of help available nowadays. Below are some tips on stopping smoking:

Medical Help:

If you can get professional medical help, then its even better. Getting professional medical help does not mean that you have to under go prolonged medical treatment. Your doctor or even your dentist will be able to guide you and provide you with all the solutions to your queries. They will able to suggest methods of handling the withdrawal symptoms and even prescribe medicines that can help you, and they can give you even more tips on stopping smoking.

Medicines:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved five medications to help you quit smoking:
1. Bupropion SR Available by prescription
2. Nicotine gum Available over-the-counter
3. Nicotine inhaler Available by prescription
4. Nicotine nasal spray Available by prescription
5. Nicotine patch Available by prescription and over-the-counter

Taking these medicines will not just double your chances of succeeding but will actually increase your chances by a whooping 80%. But of course it is highly recommended that you start using these medicines after consulting a medical practitioner.
Counseling:

You might also consider possibilities like group counseling or telephone counseling. Group counseling has a wonderful effect, because there is nothing that feels as good as having others who face the same problems that you are encountering. When you hear the fears of others, and how difficult t is for them to pull no, you will feel surprisingly encouraged. Group counseling will provide you a wonderful arena to compare notes with other fellow quitters and you can watch and monitor your progress.

Wow ! I have always been told that the way to successfully quit was to just do it cold turkey. I have never once tried any kind of product. Every time I have tried to quit I just starting eating a lot of sunflower seeds and talking with my friends for support. I was always told that the nicotine gums were just a waste of time and money, so it is surprising to me that the success is 80% better. What have I got to lose? I want to quit so badly and nothing else has worked. I am definitely gonna talk with my physician and give the gum a shot.

It seems like, in the end, it comes down to an individual truly wanting to quit.. wanting to quit more than they want to keep smoking, anyway. Things like hypnosis and acupuncture only work if you want them to work. Unfortunately, most people enjoy smoking enough that they’d rather just keep doing it despite the risks… which they seem to try to brush off. So far, gums/patches and acupuncture haven’t helped my mother quit.. hopefully she’ll find something soon.

I never thought there would be much medicines in quitting smoking. Well I’ve tried quitting for already half a year and still I can’t stop the urge to smoke a cigar or two. A friend told me its just will power, is it really effective? Hmm, I’m guessing it would depend on how strong your will power is eh? =p

A person who has a strong will power can quit smoking with less efforts. The addicts just need something to satisfy their urge. So, replacing it with some alternatives can help them to gradually quit smoking. I have seen that dissolvable tobacco is the alternative which most of the heavy smokers use to satisfy their urge when they are in smoking-prohibited zone. I think medication is the best option for those who cannot quit smoking through other means.

Qiutting smoking is very difficult but it really depends on the person who is quitting. If he is determine to quit he will make ways on how to avoid it. One way is lessening his smoking every day. Instead of smoking why not candies. One way or another it is the decision of the person in quitting smoking.

People do think that they have been smoking for the past so many years and what is going to happen if they quit smoking now. It is not like that. I would like to give some information on this. Once after quitting the smoke, in 20 minutes your blood pressure and heart beat comes to a normal state. Carbon monoxide leaves your body after 8 hours. In 24 hours, the unwanted toxic substances will start leaving your kidney and lungs. In 48 hours, Nicotine leaves your body. The sense of taste will get improved. In 12 weeks of time, blood circulation is normalized. In 9 months you get relieved from cough. In 5 years, the chances of getting a heart attack is reduced by 50%.After 10 years, the chances of kidney failure is reduced by 50%. After 15 years, the chances of getting a heart attack is reduced by 100%. Now think? Can you think about quitting your smoke?

Okay, I have to agree to a point that there is sometimes a better way, but sometimes you can find a product that can help you, that maybe the doctor you went to doesn’t want to try, or he has it in good with a particular drug pusher…I’m sorry drug provider and they don’t know enough about something to try it so they tell you it isn’t safe. It’s all a crap shoot anyway, so as long as you know if you don’t trust them stand up for yourself.
