It is possible to simplify the principles of the 12 steps down to a description of a one word behavior. These are the principles to be incorporated into our daily lives as ‘we walk the walk’. Employing each of these behavior’s will help to rebuild self-esteem and self confidence in moving toward your recovery goal, while improving the quality of your long-term sobriety. So, indulging in my quest to try to keep things simple, here they are:
1. Honesty
2. Hope
3. Action
4. Courage
5. Integrity
6. Willingness
7. Humility
8. Fraternal Love
9. Self Discipline
10. Steadfast of Purpose
11. Unity
12. Service and Gratitude
There you have it simple actions you can practice each and every day to improve the quality of your life in those you come in contact with. These are the principles behind the 12 steps.
